Interpretation of the legend of the Hummingbird by the artist Aurore de la Morinerie. Rewriting of the legend entrusted to Claire Antoine of mot.tiff inside.
Of Native American origin, the legend of the Hummingbird invites us not to remain passive in adversity. The most fragile being has, on his scale, the duty to act and the power to change things by the example he gives and the energy he instills in others. This centuries-old legend obviously takes on a particular significance at a time when humanity is facing an unprecedented ecological challenge.
About the Artist:
Aurore de la Morinerie is a French artist and illustrator who works and lives in Paris. In love with China and Japan, she began calligraphy and Chinese painting while studying fashion design at the École supérieure des Arts appliqués Duperré. She regularly exhibits at the Palais Galliera, which has several of her drawings in the museum's permanent collections. In a profusion of experiments with techniques—brush drawing, monotype, photography—Aurore uses materials, tools, supports, superpositions, and colors, reflecting the richness and diversity of flora and fauna.
Inspired by the hummingbird, Aurore has already had the opportunity to study and draw it many times, and it was she who suggested creating a work to illustrate the legend of the hummingbird. It is a story that resembles her and that she embodies perfectly. The poetry, subtlety, and generosity that emerge from her work inspire us, and it is a great joy to have her in the adventure Une histoire au mur.
